As a conservative who disagrees with Homosexuality, let me explain something.
I do not hate homosexuals. Hate is an ugly sin that Christ condemns
alongside Homosexuality.
I believe that Active Homosexuality is indeed a sin condemned in Scripture.

However, we are told in the same Scriptures that Christ cared for sinners.

> disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his
> disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and
> sinners?" But when he heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no
> need of a physician, but those who are sick.

Even more, he Died for Sinners.
> For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a
> good person one would dare even to die-- but God shows his love for us
> in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
> (Rom 5:7-8)
Also, all men are guilty of sin. We are all stained and unworthy of
Christ's Grace.
> for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
> (Rom 3:23)
Homosexuality is a sin. But then again, so is theft, and lying, and
covetness, and greed. I will not treat a homosexual as if he/she were a
lesser person.
I believe it is our job to show the Truth to Homosexuals, not to tear
them down and call them names. I do believe that if a homosexual does
not repent, he/she is on the path to hell. But I would also say the same
of a theif.
Remember, as far as God is concerned, all of mankind is in the same
sinful sinking boat.

The end result of unrepentant homosexuality is the same as any other sin.
However, Homosexuality is in a way more dangerous than other sins both for society and for the individual in question. This is because accepting the desires of homosexuality, according to scripture, brings delusion upon the mind and thus serves to obscure the truth, and to open the way to more and more evil.

I would argue however that society's acceptance of any sin is dangerous.
The problem we face now is that Society and people representing the Christian Church are accepting sin, not which particular sin it is.
If Society and members of the Church stated that Heterosexual Fornication, Lying, Theft or Tax evasion were morally acceptable, it would be just as dangerous.
(Unfortunately, some already accept pre-marrital sex.)
I would argue that it is the moral laxity that is the major issue, not the sin in question.
Howver, it could be easily argued that homosexuality is one of few sins actually called an Abomination.
This is a difficult issue.

Your right that acceptance of any sin is dangerous and destructive. However, I'm referring to what Paul says in regard to homosexuality in the new testament. He said that homosexuality causes God to give people over to depravity of mind. This seems to indicate that homosexuality brings with it a level of depravity of mind above and beyond the normal degradation which comes from hardening your conscience to sin.
